Unlike the Achilles tendon, it is uncommon for the posterior tibial tendon to not undergo acute rupture. This case study reports two patients who had operative treatment of a posterior tibial tendon tear. The study describes the surgical exploration and treatment of posterior tibial tendon injuries among the athletic community.

A variety of reconstructive procedures has been used to treat lateral ankle instability, but subtalar instability is not corrected equally in these procedures. This study facilitates the preoperative planning process for distal tibila osteotomy by determining angular correction with various wedge heights. The medial opening wedge distal tibial osteotomy is a relatively new technique for treatment of intermediate ankle joint arthritis. This procedure requires extensive preoperative planning to determine the size of the wedge that will restore anatomic alignment of the joint surface.

Anatomic Suture Anchor Versus the Brostrom Technique for Anterior Talofibular Ligament Repair

This study analyses the Brostrom procedure for secondary repair of chronic lateral ankle instability. Prior to this study there have been no biomechanical studies reporting the strength of this secondary repair method, whether using suture fixation or suture anchors. Through a biomechanical comparison of the ultimate load to failure and stiffness of the traditional Brostrom technique using only a suture repair compared with a suture anchor repair of the anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL) at time zero.
